Resistance Through Art: A Zine-Making Workshop

Resistance Through Art: Writing the Uncensored Self

A zine-making workshop led by Pleasure Pie

In this hands-on workshop for writers, creators, and anyone with a story to tell, we’ll explore zines - DIY, uncensored mini-magazines - as a raw and powerful medium for self-expression. Led by Pleasure Pie - a Boston-based sex-positive education organization known for its zines on sexual liberation and justice-centered sex ed - this session is part of Page & Parlor’s ongoing exploration of banned stories, radical self-expression, and the power of uncensored art. Together, we’ll craft personal zines around themes of truth-telling, identity, and resistance.

We’ll talk about:

  • How zines have historically amplified marginalized voices

  • Why self-publishing matters in the face of censorship and control

  • How you can translate your writing into visual, tangible forms of protest and connection

Materials, prompts, and inspiration will all be provided, no art experience necessary.
